Secure storage is one of the most important things to consider before you buy precious metals. Precious metals are compact, valuable, and easy to re-sell; unfortunately qualities that are also desirable to criminals. Therefore you will need to have a plan for secure storage and insurance. Fortunately ABC Bullion can provide these services to you at no cost or for a minimal fee depending on the type of account you have with us.

We provide high-security vault storage and Lloyds replacement insurance for all precious metals bought through us (min. requirements are: 1oz for gold, platinum, palladium and 1kg for silver).

How is gold stored - what are vaults really like?

Many clients want to know how bullion is stored when in vaults. Is it really like in the movies? Answer: Yes! The vaults our bullion is kept in are extremely secure. They are protected by a range of physical and electronic security measures such as dual-key locks (one person for each key), drill proof metal doors, thick reinforced concrete walls, armed guards, infra-red alarms, coded access systems – you name it!

Inside the vault, segregated bullion is stored as individual bars in a small drawer or in the case of large silver bars in secure racks. 

The bullion itself is stored in a black velvet or cotton drawstring pouch. 

Retrieving gold takes usually takes only 1 day if the request is made before 2pm. The reason it takes time is that the gold will need to pass security checks and require armed transportation to its pick up point.  Larger or bulky orders such as silver may require longer lead times due to the logistics and security constraints such holdings entail.
